Frequently Asked Questions
Find quick answers to common questions about membership, events, professional development, and the services offered by the Kenya Association of Clinical Pathologists.
Who is eligible for KACP membership?
KACP offers several membership categories: Full Member: Open to registered medical practitioners specializing in Clinical Pathology (Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Histopathology) with a valid M.Med or equivalent. Associate Member: For medical officers, interns, and residents currently training in clinical pathology. Affiliate Member: Open to scientists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals working in laboratory medicine. Specific eligibility criteria and required documentation are detailed on our Membership Registration page.
How do I register for KACP conferences and CPD events?
Registration for all events is done online through our website. Visit the Events page, select the event you wish to attend, and complete the registration form. Payment is typically required to confirm your spot. Members receive discounted rates for most events. You will receive a confirmation email with event details and, where applicable, a link to download CPD certificates after the event.
Does KACP offer Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points?
Yes. KACP is an accredited provider of CPD points by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC). Our conferences, workshops, and scientific meetings are designed to offer CPD points. The number of points awarded for each event is specified in the event materials and on your certificate of attendance.
How can I access the member-only resources and forums?
Access to exclusive resources—including clinical guidelines, archived webinar libraries, discussion forums, and the member directory—requires logging into the secured Member Portal. Once your membership application is approved and your dues are current, you will receive login credentials. If you've lost your login details, use the "Forgot Password" link on the Member Log In page.
What are the membership fees, and how can I pay?
Annual membership fees vary by category (Full, Associate, Affiliate). The current fee structure is published on the membership application form. Payments can be made via:
- Bank Transfer: To our official KACP bank account (details provided upon application).
- Mobile Money: Via approved platforms (details will be communicated).
- Online Payment: Secure card payments through our website portal for event registrations and renewal.
How can I get involved in KACP committees or volunteer for outreach programmes?
KACP encourages active member participation! You can express your interest in serving on committees (e.g., Scientific, Education, Advocacy) or volunteering for community outreach programmes by:
- Contacting the committee chairperson directly.
- Filling out the volunteer interest form on our Community Outreach page.
- Responding to calls for volunteers announced in our newsletter and member communications.
I haven't received my membership certificate or event confirmation. What should I do?
First, please check your spam or junk email folder. If you cannot find the communication, please contact the KACP Secretariat via email at secretariat@kacp.co.ke or call +254 726 830 732. Have your full name and membership number (or event registration reference) ready to help us resolve your query quickly.
Does KACP provide career or job placement support for pathologists?
While KACP is not a recruitment agency, we support our members' career development in several ways:
- Career Center: We occasionally post career opportunities from reputable institutions on our Career Center page.
- Networking: Our conferences and events are excellent platforms for professional networking.
- Mentorship: We are developing formal mentorship programmes connecting experienced consultants with trainees and early-career pathologists.
